How many services does the Train offer?

The train offers 2 (two) services, with different prices:

  • BUS TRAIN BUS

The Train to the Clouds tour includes a vehicle ride from the city of Salta, traveling along the RN 51 to the towns of Campo Quijano and Gobernador Solá until arriving at El Alfarcito, where a country breakfast is planned with local products prepared by the communities of area. There is an operational center of the Alfarcito Foundation, whose work reaches 25 communities in the area and the Albergue de Montaña School, which is attended by 154 children and has orientation in tourism.

Then the trip will continue through the Quebrada de las Cuevas and then the Muñano plain to reach San Antonio de los Cobres.

There, the contingent will move to the Train Station where travelers will embark on the Train to the Clouds that will take them to the La Polvorilla Viaduct. The route will be one hour to the Viaduct, at 4,200 meters above sea level, where the most impressive engineering work of the past century is traversed. After 30 minutes the return to San Antonio de los Cobres begins where the passengers will return to board the buses to return to the city of Salta.

During the return, there will be a final stop in Santa Rosa de Tastil, area of ​​influence of the Qhapaq ñan in the Province of Salta and administrative center of the Quebrada del Toro. There they will be able to visit the Site Museum and buy different handicrafts and local products in the Artisan Center of the community. After the visit will continue the return to the city of Salta.

NOTE: Does not include transfer of arrival and departure to San Antonio de los Cobres or the passenger must travel by their own means

Where can I book the tickets and what are the payment methods?

  • We remind you that children from 3 years of age pay lower fee.

For our part we will proceed to the collection and we will send you a confirmation e-mail at the moment, along with the summary of the reservation and the train voucher that you will have to print and present it on the train.

What documentation do I need for the trip?

Once the reservation is made, we will send you an email with the confirmation of your reservation.

You will also receive the voucher where the train number, the assigned car and seat are shown. To travel you must present this voucher.
In any case, you should always have the voucher printed in order to travel.
– Train reservations are nominal, each passage is assigned to a specific person at the time of booking.

In all cases they must have a passport or ID.

What are the precautions for altitude sickness?

Tips

To avoid altitude sickness or at least take it a little better, it will be necessary to acclimate, not agitate or make physical efforts. In addition, the day before arrival to the place is recommended to sleep well, eat light and avoid alcoholic beverages.
